Abstract

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most frequent malignant neoplasia in the world, being the fifth in Brazil, which is presented as the fourth leading cause of cancer death. The highest percentages of deaths occur due to the metastatic process. PRL is an important marker in the diagnosis and prognosis of CRC relating to the destructive capacity of the vessel walls, cell motility, tumor infiltrating cells and aggressiveness, processes directly related to the development of metastases. The objective of this study is to establish the relationship between PRL-3 protein and the clinical and pathological characteristics of the CRC, and the relationship of its expression as the prognosis of the disease.
