Epithelial dysplasia can be present any histological diagnosis of premalignant lesions clinically classified as leukoplakia, erythroplakia, eritholeukoplakia. This condition is associated with the risk of transformation into carcinoma. The oral squamous cell carcinoma is a malignant neoplasm that mainly affects smokers and alcoholic drinkers between the 5th and 6th decades of life. The objective of this study is to evaluate the protein expression of ALDH1 and ALDH2 in 30 premalignant lesions with epithelial dysplasia and compared them to 30 cases of OSCC. The results will be correlated with their clinical characteristics and prognosis. The variables between the groups will be compared using the x2 test or Fisher's exact test. The survival analysis will be evaluated by Kaplan-Meier method and Cox proportional hazards model.
