Abstract

Out to be directly related to the production and the remuneration of the consumer market, the meat quality is extremely important for meat producers. Thus, understanding the influence of different dietary plans during the growth and finishing phase of beef cattle is of utmost importance. However, studies evaluating the effect of intake and digestibility of the diets of cattle at different feeding plans during the stockering and finishing phases on carcass traits and final meat quality of beef cattle are still scarce in the literature. The objective of this study is follow the development of studies assessing the effect of intake and digestibility of the diets of cattle at different feeding on the end product. Will be evaluate the effect of feeding treatment during stockering and finishing phase on intake, digestibility, performance, carcass traits and meat quality of Angus steers (278±21.4 kg, 9 mo). During phase 1 steers will be randomly assigned to high-concentrate diet or high-quality pasture. In phase 2, all steers grazed high-quality pasture. During phase 3, each group defined in phase 1 will randomly divided in two and assigned to high-concentrate diet or high-quality pasture. The results obtained during the permanence of the scholar on the internship will be presented in the final report, in form of tables, results description and publication of the results in the form of abstracts presented at scientific congresses. The scholar will also develop a presentation of the activities carried out for his research team in Brazil, emphasizing the positive and negative points, and the major gains made during the internship period.
