The synthesis of novel materials by selective anchoring metals clusters on oxides supports were initially addressed in this project by exploring Chini's clusters, [Pt3(CO)6]n2-. The proposal of this BEPE application is to further explore this approach through the Controlled Synthesis (CS) method developed by Dumesic's research group. Bimetallic catalysts containing both a noble metal center and an acid and oxophilic center will be synthesized from organometallic precursors. Hydrogen treated platinum nanoparticles will be explored to selective anchor iron complexes to explore novel systems on reactions of biomass upgrade: hydrogenolysis to fine chemicals and hydrogen production chain reactions.
