Abstract

The development of this abroad research aims to contribute with the knowledge about the incorporation of waste rubber tires in gypsum matrix with other testing techniques, complementing the scientific initiation project in progress. As a continuation of our study with compounds (sheet) with addition of three different rubber particle sizes of tires, we propose a different work with a new experimental program in matrices incorporating gypsum, hydrated lime and pozzolan with the incorporation of rubber, in this case, in the Polytechnic University of Valencia - UPV, in Spain, a city with which our group Alternative Materiais of Construction - MAC has research links. So, it will be evaluated some mechanical and physical characteristics of matrices of plaster, hydrated lime and pozzolan with the addition of tire rubber particles (# 1.19 mm) from the retreading industry. The physico-mechanical characteristics studied are: bulk density in fresh and hardened state, modulus of elasticity, compressive strength and tensile strength in bending. After conducting experimental tests, it can be observed the main influences of the addition of rubber tires on the composites. Where the transformation of this rubber from the tire recycling mitigates the impact of scrap tires generated, and allows a new market niche that involves the concern with the environment, and consolidated the transfer of the knowledge generated at the university to the industry.
