Abstract

Caregivers are the people responsible for the act of caring, who give assistance to people that, facing different problems, have difficulties and limitations to carrying out their daily activities. During hospital stay of the assisted person, the caregivers face multiple complex situations, experiencing significant changes in their daily lives, mainly because of the care provided. The importance of a full and humanized care is a highlighted by this, as recommended in the National Policy of SUS Humanization to pacient comfort and help of the family in care during hospital stay. With this in mind, this study aims to identify and understand the needs and demands of family and/or caregivers of users admitted to the Medical Clinic of the Hospital Universitário (University Hospital) as well as the limits faced by the occupational therapy and the multidisciplinary team. For this, the study, with a qualitative and descriptive character, will be based on bibliographic and documentary research of the records of visits by occupational therapists, the data from medical records and interviews with family members/caregivers. Data analysis, in turn, will be held from the thematic analysis. With that, it aims to contribute to build an integral and humanized attention to family/ caregivers and for the user.
