Abstract

Introduction: Currently obesity is established as a public health problem and requires interventions that allow combating them. Installation of chronic subclinical inflammation and epigenetic alterations are related to pathology of this multifactorial disease. Thus the search for foods able to combat and prevent these diseases became necessary. In this sense, the fruit of juçara palm (Euterpe edulis Mart.) seems to be a food with potential against obesity due to its composition rich in anthocyanins, polyunsaturated fatty acids and dietary fiber. Objective: To analyze the effect of the pulp of the fruit of Juçara Palm consumption, on the pro-inflammatory state of obesity and epigenetic modifications. Methods: 72 subjects with obesity (BMI 30.0 to 39.9 kg / m2) of both genders aged 31 to 59 will be randomized divided into 4 groups in use or not (placebo) of fruit pulp supplementation during 8 weeks. Will be held anthropometry, assessment of food intake, profile of fatty acids in serum by gas chromatography, epigenetic markers (global DNA methylation in monocytes; protein and gene expression of proteins involved in epigenetic mechanisms: DNMT1, DNMT3a , DNMT3B and MeCP2, and HDAC enzyme activity in monocytes); The monocyte inflammatory profile of TLR4 / NFºB activation cascade by gene expression of the following proteins associated with inflammation: TLR4, TLR2, IL-6R, IL-10R±, TNFR1, AdipoR2, IL-10, IL-6, TNF, -±, Ob-R; and protein expression of the following proteins: TLR4, TLR2, IL-6R, IL-10R±, TNFR1, AdipoR2, Ob-R, MyD88, TRAF6, and all fractions and phosphorylated IKK ± / ² and NF-kB (p50 subunits and p65).
