Abstract

This research aims to define what is the ethnofiction and as the films of the Kurdish-Iranian filmmaker Bahman Ghobadi can be read in this light. The director opts for use "non" actors, an improvisational cinema, by creating the plot or managing these "actors" and participates in a collaborative process with the filmed community because his films are based on their lives. The films that I chose for this analysis are A Time For Drunken Horses (2000) and Turtles Can Fly (2004), which present crucial issues both for anthropology and cinema, as the representation of the child, the idea of nation and identity, the artifice and verisimilitude.I intend to answer this problem through the issues discussed in the field of visual anthropology and film theory, doing a comparative analysis of Ghobadi's films with films classified as etnoficcionais both the French side, represented by Jean Rouch, as the Portuguese side, as Leitão de Barros, António Campos and the trilogy of Fontainhas, by Pedro Costa.
