Abstract

The geosystemic concept and approach have shown to be relevant to environmental geographical research. From this scenario, several researchers, especially the French geographer Georges Bertrand, have been discussing and applying this concept in their research in a more integrated and global analysis. In this context, we grouped Bertrand's studies in four major periods important for the analysis of the conceptual evolution of geosystem, divided as follows: 1) the landscape by way of nature (1955-1967); 2) the landscape between nature and society (1968-1980); 3) the landscape in the ways of society (1980-2007) and 4) the return of the centrality of the landscape dimension (2008-present). In all these periods, divided in a didactic way, the "global" analysis of the environment is still alive in the epistemological developments of this author, which is influenced by a strict "field epistemology" based on the reflections of his field research. Through this framework, the objective is to understand the development of Bertrand's geosystemic studies and some "tours and detours" in the production by the Brazilian geographical science. This study presents two structural fronts: 1) detailed survey of Georges Bertrand's work soo that we can understand its epistemological developments; 2) another survey of the Brazilian production in this area between 2000 and 2015 in 56 post-graduate programs in geography and journal articles by authors of books related to guiding. To develop the research, we used three methodological steps: 1) Gamboa's (1987) paradigmatic scheme about the concentration area and theoretical level; 2) Koselleck's (2006) assumptions about the evolution of concepts related to historical periods; and 3) the creation of a digital database according to Barreto (2007) for analysis and spatial distribution of bibliometric data. With the research, we expect to systematize scientific contributions that are dispersed in history, thereby assisting in the understanding of the tours and detours of the geosystem concept in Brazil.
