The study of clinical data is fundamentally important for medical and scientific practice. However few national case series evaluated the clinical features of decompensated heart failure. Therefore, we propose to study the clinical characteristics of patients hospitalized with heart failure and its influence on prognosis. The aim of this study is to evaluate the demographic and clinical characteristics of patients hospitalized with heart failure and its influence on patient outcomes. We will analyze a prospective cohort of patients hospitalized with heart failure; patient data will be recorded since entering the hospital to discharge, transplant or death. Will be included patients aged over 18 years admitted with diagnosis of heart failure; will be considered both cases that heart failure was the determining cause of hospitalization (decompensated cardiac failure) and cases where hospitalization occurred by another cause. Will be excluded patients hospitalized for less than 24 hours, patients with pericarditis, restrictive cardiomyopathy, deposit diseases, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, congenital heart disease and post-operative cardiogenic shock. We believe that the information derived from this analysis will contribute to the recognition of higher-risk patients and support the development of therapeutic and preventive strategies for this population.
