Abstract

It is known that hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), the active substance of the dental bleaching gel, can penetrate through the enamel and dentin producing changes in these tissues and cause damage to pulp tissue. Some formulations based on Biosilicate® (BS) have been shown to minimize induced changes in enamel and dentin following dental bleaching. It was also observed positive effect on remineralization of dental tissues, minimizing dentin hypersensitivity. Considering the possibility of developing new products that can minimize the effects of H2O2 on the pulp tissue, the aim of this study is: - to evaluate the therapeutic potential of an BS based experimental gel on the pulp tissue of bleached Wistar rat molars function of different application protocols. Methods: 80 hemimaxilae of 40 rats will be randomly divided into 8 groups of 10 hemimaxilae each: Control group- not receive any treatment; Cla group- will receive 30 minutes of bleaching gel 35% H2O2; Cla}BS/20min group- receive 35% H2O2, followed by application of 20 min BS gel; Cla}BS/14d group- receive 35% H2O2, and an application of 30 sec BS gel every 72 hours for 14 days; BS/20min}Cla group- receive 20 min BS gel, followed by 35% H2O2; BS/7d}Cla group- receive an application 20 min BS gel every 24 hours for 7 days, and on day 7, 35% H2O2; Cla+BS group- receive 30 minutes of a mixture of 35% H2O2 to BS; BS/7d group- receive an application 20 min BS every 24 hours for 7 days. After 2 and 30 days, the animals will be euthanized. Analysis method: the hemimaxilae will be processed for histological evaluation (HE). Scores are assigned to the inflammatory infiltrate, and applied the Kruskal-Wallis test and Dunn (p<.05).
