Abstract

The development of scaffolds made of biocompatible, biodegradable and bioactive materials, has a great potential in bioengineering. Chitosan is a biomaterial with different biological properties that allows the development of a scaffold with satisfactory qualities. With the introduction of mesenchymal cells from adipose tissue and deciduous tooth, in these scaffolds, you can observe the behavior of the same in different niches, verifying the differentiation according to the array. These stem cells present numerous qualities that support its use for developing skin substitutes in treating large burn, in addition to the possible use of these membranes as wound dressing. Patients with the clinical condition of severe tissue injury of the skin by most serious burns or other types of wounds may opt for the application of skin substitutes or dressings developed from biomaterials. One of the attractive development of skin replacement model is the fact that this is an individualized treatment, i.e. personalized medicine, once the cells have the same genetic code of patients, since it would be extracted (less troublesome than in the case of bone marrow stem cells), which makes it possible to decrease the chances of the patient's body rejected the replacement. In this way, there is the possibility of obtaining equivalent dermo-epidermal functional and suitable for treatment of different diseases. In addition, the development of this equivalent dermo-epidermal can provide an efficient and practical system for the in vitro toxicological evaluation, aimed at replacing the use of animals in research with pharmaceutical products and cosmetics.
