Abstract

The specialized chronicle of war, as a discursive hybrid genre, intersection between journalistic language and literary language, gained space in the newspapers during Crimean War (1854). In Brazil, its genealogy begins with the corresponding sending to the War of Paraguay (XIX century), and, later, with participation in War of Canudos. Although it's already in the journalistic content of the country, it is during the two wars that the global discourse genre is highlighted in national journals. In this research, we intend to approach the chronicles produced during the Second World War by the corresponding Rubem Braga, sent by the Diário Carioca, and Joel Silveira, sent by the Diários Associados, from September 1944 to May 1945. Rubem Braga later reunited his chronicles in the book "Com a FEB na Itália", published in 1996, while Joel Silveira published, in the same year, a compilation of all his writings of war in "Histórias de Pracinhas" (1945), both books showing the impact of such texts as reference of Brazilian chronicle of war. Having the chronicles as originally published by newspapers as a privileged research corpus, this study, based on documentary research, aims to analyze comparatively the textual production from Braga and Silveira by the concept of dialogism advocated by Bakhtin (1979), demonstrating the convergence points and divergences presented in the narrative style of each one. Bearing in mind the structural and semantic differences in building their chronicles, the objective is to outline, more precisely, a possible dialogue between journalistc discourse and literary discourse, focusing on two observers placed in a limit and traumatic situation of experience of war.
