Abstract

This project dialogues with the debate about urban habitations in Brazil, more specifically about the relations between social movements, the residents of these occupations, and the habitational projects with state participation, which is the case of the Programa Minha Casa Minha Vida [My Home My Life Program] (PMCMV). This ethnography aims to analyze how the former residents and social movement of the former Pinheirinho camp, which suffered repossession in 2012 in the city of São José dos Campos - SP, mobilize notions of house, (political) struggle, State, memory and kinship in their daily actions, having in mind the future habitational neighborhood dedicated exclusively to the displaced people via PMCMV: the Pinheirinho dos Palmares. These emic categories allow the analysis of this construction conclusion's waiting moment, which express itself on the list of names built by the Movimento Urbano dos Sem-Teto [Homeless Urban Movement] (MUST) and the documents folders' construction to be sent to the respective State agencies for the house acquisition. For this purpose, it'll be analytically explored how kinship converges in this specific moment of house obtainment, since one the major problems in which the displaced people is having in building the folders to be sent to the Caixa Econômica Federal [Federal Economic Bank] refers to the certificates related to marriage and divorces, aside with other documents required by the present Program.
