Abstract The radiotherapy represents one of the most commons and fundamental modalities for treating cancer. However, the ionizing radiation causes important deleterious effects in the tissues which occur particularly because of the oxidative stress, fenomenal with the participation of the Renin-Angiotensin System (RAS). The activity of the radiation in the testes can affect menacingly the reproductive capacity and also be the cause of the temporary, prolonged, or even the definitive azoospermia. Considering the presence of an intrinsic RAS in the male genital system, where it participates in several physiological processes like spermatogenesis; it is relevant to investigate if the RAS inhibitors have a modulator role in this process, reducing the oxidative stress and consequently avoiding the radiation effects on the reproductive tissues since its effectiveness in the prevention of the development or attenuation of the cell damage was observed in other tissues irradiated. | |
