Associated to the scholarship: | 14/24472-1 - Etiology and epidemiology of anthracnose of grapevine, BP.DR |
Abstract Grapevine is one of the main fruits cultivated in the world, including Australia and Brazil. In both countries, the culture is highlighted in the production of grapes for fresh market consumption, wines and sparkling. Several factors may affect the yield potential and longevity of grapevines, including pathogen attack. Among the diseases of the grapevine, anthracnose is highlighted by both quantitative and qualitative losses in vineyards. However, studies of the etiology and epidemiology of this pathosystem are scarce. The disease is associated with the fungus Elsinoë ampelina. Until now, none etiological study was conducted in Australia and Brazil to evaluate the variability of the E. ampelina isolates. For this reason, in this project will be carried out molecular (internal transcribe spacer, elongation factor 1 ± and histone3 regions) and morphological analysis (color, texture, growth, conidia size and shape) in 50 isolates. Also will be evaluated the pathogenicity capacity of the isolates in Vitis vinifera cv. Cabernet sauvignon. With regard to epidemiology, there is no available knowledge about spatial progress of the disease in the field. Therefore, the project aims to study the etiology of the E. ampelina isolates from Australia and Brazil and, also analyze data relative to spatial progress of anthracnose in a vineyard of Vitis labrusca cv. Niagara Rosada in Brazil. (AU) | |
