Abstract

Polysaccharides have been used in various industrial applications, such as thickeners, gelling agents, stabilizers, detergentes and food toppings. In addition, new research in the pharmaceutical area have shown anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antitumor and immunomodulatory potential of microbial exopolysaccharides, especially fungal ²-glucans. Thus, this project aims to obtain sulfated derivative of raw and fractionated exopolysaccharide of fungus Lasiodiplodia theobromae and verify their possible anticoagulant actions. The exopolysaccharide be obtained by submerged fermentation and the separation of their fractions will be made by freezing and thawing. The heterogeneous reaction process will be used for sulfation of glucans and analysis of sulfated glucans be made by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and determining the Degree of Substitution. In addition, Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time and Thrombin Time will be performed to check the anticoagulant action.
