Abstract

The family of mosquitoes is diverse and has many species with high epidemiological relevance. The improvement of our understanding and prediction of risk of disease transmission and development of new control strategies for these insects may depend on a better understanding of the ecology and the factors that influence the survival of larvae in breeding. Knowledge of biodiversity is also extremely important, since it can influence the cycles of infectious diseases, especially in green areas impacted due to the urbanization process. Thus, the aim of this project is to investigate the influences of environmental, climatic, chemical and physical factors on the richness, abundance and composition of mosquitoes in different types of breeding sites. Immature will be collected in areas with different degrees of human occupation in the Cantareira State Park and Environmental Protection Area Capivari-Monos, two Atlantic Forest remnants in São Paulo, for 14 months. Physical and chemical parameters of the water will be measured, as well as temperature of breeding sites and rainfall, assessing the immature diversity of response to variations in these parameters. Statistical analyzes will be carried out, taking into account richness, composition and abundance of species in order to observe how diversity is affected by these parameters, it will be possible to carry out an integrated analysis of environmental, climatic and physical and chemical of breeding sites to better understand the ecology of the species, how they respond to different conditions and habitats and what are the epidemiological implications.
