Abstract

Mixed oxides are used as catalysts for potentially exhibit a high specific area, thermal stability and homogeneous distribution of the cations embedded in the structure. Efficient mixed oxides catalysts can be easily prepared by a controlled thermal decomposition of layered double hydroxide (LDH) precursors. To obtain the oxides are prepared as precursors, hydrotalcite-like compounds and layered double hydroxides (LDHs) of cobalt, manganese and aluminum employing the batch coprecipitation method under conditions of constant pH and temperature. The salts used as precursors are aluminum nitrate, cobalt and manganese in solution with sodium nitrate and sodium hydroxide. The precursors are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and analyzed by thermogravimetry (TG). The catalysts will be characterized by nitrogen adsorption, X-ray diffraction (XRD), temperature programmed reduction (TPR), isopropanol decomposition reaction. This project aims to assess the feasibility of using the mixed oxide Mn-Co-Al as catalysts in the reaction of oxidative dehydrogenation of propane, from the characterizations performed.
