Abstract This research project has as its object of study the record labels Elenco (1963-1967) from the producer Aloysio de Oliveira, Festa (1955-1970) from the producer Irineu Garcia and Forma (1964-1971) from the producer Roberto Quartin, three record labels of small dimensions that held a significant production of discs during its activity. The research intend to work with the hypothesis that the trajectories of the three labels reflect transformations occurred in the phonographic industry of the 1950's and 1960's, marked by the transition from a incipient stage - characterized by a undeveloped technical and administrative basis-, to a phase of expansion and consolidation of administrative rationality and subsequent market concentration by major labels. Situated in this passage, we intend to ascertain to what extent the production of the three labels contributed to the market segmentation process and to the formation of a segment considered of "good taste" in Brazilian popular music, marked by social and aesthetics criteria of differentiation compatible with medium and high social sectors. | |
