Abstract

This project aims to establish the goals and the research methodology to analyze the relation between environment, urbanization and image policies, based on the case study of the Linear Park Ribeirão das Pedras located in the Barão Geraldo's district, in the city of Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil. It is intended to link elements such as green areas in urban environments, appreciation of public space and the role of local government in the formulation of public policies in the territorial planning. The central hypothesis intended to be verified is the one which admits that green spaces are elements of urban space appreciation, guided in environmental conservation speeches and corporate real estate agents, through speculation in urban land use and image policies. There is no pretension to exhaust the elements of scientific tract around the environmental and urban issues on the case study, but rather emphasize the need to promote debate and the initial questioning of the matter.
