Abstract

This research will investigate how the look of the landscape in the capital territorialization process in the context of touristification in Chapada Diamantina, from the tourism thrive in the mid-1970s to the present. To this end, we propose a comparative study of the representationthe landscape in the area of images produced at different times of their socioeconomic history. The selected images include photographs and videos that record three distinguishable periods of history of Chapada Diamantina: a gold mining company in the late nineteenth century to the twentieth, theostracism of the area between the 1950s and 1970s and made records from the 1980s, closely related to the emergence oftourism as a possibility or reality. The comparative analysis of such material is intended to question the objectivist character of the seizure made landscape by geographical science and endorsed by the own image while recording a given territorial reality. In this way we aim to recognize the different historical forms of looking at landscape reading in Chapada Diamantina, in order to identify the particular comparison contemporary of the tourism point of view, and the production of images attached to it, devoted to the landscape of the study area. In the interests also understand how the production of images is is a practice that identifies the tourist as consumer landscape, or landscapemerchandise, and how influences in the form of consciousness that such tourist develops on its practice and the place visited.
