Abstract

Introduction: Chronic leg ulcers are highly prevalent. The local treatment involves dressings and topical products. These treatments can cause contact dermatitis, which increases the mordibity of the disease and delay cicatrization. Objective: Identify frequency and most common allergens related to contact dermatitis in patients with chronic leg ulcers. Methodology: It's a prospective, transversal and analytic study. Patients with diagnosed chronic leg ulcer, active or healed, will be included, regardless the ulcer etiology. All patients will be submitted to patch test and contact test with the components used in the treatment of this disease. It will be measured clinic and contact test variables. Categorical data will be described as percentile frequency and will be compared with chi-square test or Fisher's exactive test. Quantitative data will be represented as mean and standard deviation or medians and quartiles (p25-p75). The established significance level will be 5%. Based on a previous sample, the sample size will be of 107 patients. (AU)
