Abstract

This research reconstitutes central works of the philosopher and sociologist Henri Lefebvre, in order to understand why in capitalist modernity everyday life and social space are, on the one hand, key to the reproduction of social relations and, on the other, points from which erupt and consolidate the desire and efforts for a democratic society. To do so, the research is divided in three blocks. The first analyzes the terms with which Lefebvre translates your search for a philosophy of the concrete, connected to the confrontation of social reality, which leads him to the analysis of everyday life and of urban space. The second block stops in the critic of everyday life as a theory of alienation extended to the spheres of work, leisure and private life; analyses yet lefebvrean program of re-aestheticization of life and its refractory character to the spectacle society. The third section analyzes the arguments with which Lefebvre argues that the urban phenomenon can resume the realization of philosophy program, namely a concrete democracy. The research spots in lefebvrean's thought a theoretical framework that, by unifying the socio-spatial research, is able to converge current aesthetic, urban and philosophical issues and also build mediations between these fields of knowledge.
