Abstract

The decade 2010 is crossed by mobilizations in large cities from Tunisia to Iceland, from Egypt to Spain, from the USA to Brazil, from India to France. The uprisings erupted from contextual events, many unpredictable, but the crisis triggered by the financial collapse in 2007-2008, whose economic stabilization measures carried social burdens to all corners of the global village, certainly brought such phenomena closer. Another issue concerns urban aspects of these insurgencies, which Paolo Gerbaudo calls \"square movement\" and David Harvey calls \"Rebel Cities.\" In Brazil these insurgencies extended until the end of 2010\'s. Taking the city of São Paulo as object, this work returns to the early 2000s to understand the period marked by intense modernization and reproduction of social relations, but also by the entrance of social actors whose repertoire of action is urban. With the theretical framework of Henri Lefebvre, we defend the thesis that if we want to give answers of these contradictions, it is necessary to formulate a social theory more sensitive of the urban space.
