Abstract

This study aims to translate, evaluate and promote the cultural adaptation of the original version of the scale Mackey Childbirth Satisfaction Rating (MCSRS), from English into Portuguese, verifying the applicability of the questionnaire and to generate subsidies to collaborate in the planning of childbirth care. Methods: This is about a validation study of descriptive tool. The research will use MCSRS scale and will be divided into two stages: 1. translation and 2. cross-cultural adaptation with validation. Sixty post partum women of Amparo Maternal Hospital will be invited in cross-cultural adaptation phase with validation. Women will be invited to the following criteria: postpartum women with a live fetus; aged between 18 and 34 years; after the second day following delivery and before hospital discharge; women with educational level that allows the understanding of MCSRS scale. Who have any of the following criteria will be excluded: do not understand the issues or do not have interest in participating in the study. The MCSRS questionnaire consists of 34 items, subdivided into five subscales about the degree of satisfaction with the following aspects: herself (nine items), her partner (two items), newborn (three items), nursing (nine items) and doctors (eight items). Each item should be scored according to a 5-point Likert scale. Formal authorization from author´s instrument was obtained to validate it in Portuguese. In the translation phase, the beginning of the translation will be carried out, the back translation and the analysis by the specialists committee (judges) to assess the relevance, pertinence, clarity and semantic equivalence of the items. The pre-test will be performed with groups of 10 participants and an analysis of internal consistency with Cronbach's alpha of the application will be analyzed by applying the questionnaire to 50 women, associated with the analysis of the understanding of the displayed items.
