Abstract

This project aims to analyze how the daily newspaper Folha de S. Paulo, from the publication of materials, produces a construction and a reproduction of the image of individuals travestis as symbolic representatives that are part of society and are embedded in the culture in which we live. The research corpus comprises articles published in the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo during the period from January 2000 to December 2014. The theoretical framework used will be based on interpretative anthropology of C. Geertz, D. Cuche in the concepts of identity and other theorists who can contribute to this research. The aim is to examine how the elements present in the materials seek to represent the image and reality of individuals travestis as participants of the cultural construction of society. And as the daily newspaper uses the social constructs to lay down the texts. (AU)
