Abstract

Within the scope of bioenergy production studies, this project will focus on the assessment of an anaerobic sequencing batch and fed-batch operated reactor containing immobilized biomass (AnSBBR) with recirculation of the liquid phase applied to the treatment of the effluent of the co-digestion of whey (effluent from dairy production) and glycerin (effluent from biodiesel production) for biohydrogen production. Biogas productivity (hydrogen, methane and carbon dioxide), reactor stability and efficiency will be assessed when the reactor is subjected to different temperatures, different influent concentrations and different cycle length to assess the relation of organic load to these variables.
