Abstract

The synthesis of natural products marked recent advances in synthetic organic chemistry, and a source of inspiration not only for the state of the art methods of synthesis, but also the search for models of innovative drugs. This research project aims the total synthesis of erythravine, an alkaloid belonging to the class of benzylisoquinolinics, erythrinic type, isolated coral tree Erythrine (Papilionaceae-Leguminosae). The erythravine is described in the literature by presenting different pharmacological properties: anxiolytic, antidepressant, analgesic, hypnotic, and anticonvulsant. However, due to the low accumulation of this alkaloid in the species E. coral tree, many studies are discontinued, making clear the importance of obtaining this compound synthetically. This study highlights the need for progress in the interdisciplinary and collaborative way research on the synthesis of natural products via nubbe order to obtain bioactive candidate compounds for new drugs.
