Abstract

This project's objective is to validate the use of the mathematical constitutive model of polymeric materials developed in the laboratories of GMSIE in numerical simulations with finite elements. The development will be based around data collected from already realized mechanical trials of tensile stress, compression and relaxation, in different strain rates, on which digital image correlation was used to obtain the field of strains. The model will be implemented in the commercial software of finite elements LS-Dyna, with which numerical trials will be realized similarly to the experimental ones to find the parameters, and once have these been calibrated, they're going to be varied inside an interval to realize a parametric analysis, verifying the numerical sensibility of the model. Furthermore, the package LS-OPT of LS-Dyna will be used to realize a fine tuning of the parameters of the model, and finally, a benchmark of the implementation will take place, in order to make comparisons between the results obtained in the simulation to the ones obtained in experimental trials.
