Abstract

In the Cerrado region, as Três Lagoas - MS, where soils present low natural fertility and sandy texture, is common to decline in productivity from the first to the second productive cycle has often been observed, and nutrients deficiency, especially potassium is one of the possible causes of this fact. Therefore, it would be of great relevance front of shortage of recommendations, the calibration study of potassium doses, ascertaining the residual of this potassium fertilization for sprouts of eucalypt, considering that this cropping system the root system is already practically all formed. Thus, the objective of this research is to evaluate the effects of potassium doses on soil fertility and development of one or two sprouts of eucalypt (I-144 clone), in the second cycle in a sandy soil with low fertility in Três Lagoas, Mato Grosso do Sul state, Brazil. The experimental design will be the randomized blocks with 12 treatments and 5 replications in factorial scheme of 2x6, being: with one or two sprouts second cycle, and six K2O doses (0, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 kg ha-1) divided in two applications at half these doses in the form of KCl. The first potassium fertilization was performed eight months after the definition of the sprouts and the second was performed eleven months after the definition of the sprouts. Each plot useful will have 49 plants, in seven rows with seven plants each. Will be perfomed the following: soil fertility analysis, foliar and fallen leaves contents, average plant height, diameter at breast height (DBH), total volume of wood with bark and average annual increment.
