Sunscreens are necessary to prevent skin diseases, specially skin cancer, and they prevent against premature skin aging. The aim of this study is evaluation of sun protection factor of extract containing flavonoids to be incorporated into topical formulation. It will be used vegetal material containing flavonoids to obtain a rich extract. After evaluating the flavonoids concentration in extract and its proof of absorption in ultraviolet region in spectrophotometer, its citotoxity and antioxidant activities will be evaluated and these will contributed to combat premature skin aging. Extract will be incorporate in formula for topical use and it will be development and its physic-chemical stability will be evaluated. Formula will also be submitted to cutaneous permeation test for the assessment of its ability to remain in stratum corneum, epidermis and dermis for effective skin protection against sun rays. Therefore, formula containing rich extract of flavonoids will be can used in sunscreens and thus it will be an alternative to combat the deleterious effects from exposure to ultraviolet radiation.
