Abstract

This proposal of internship aims to improve the knowledge and understanding about the axis concerning the process of disclosure in the occurrences of medical malpractice in American health institution. These elements constitute strategic point for the expansion of the field of analysis concerning the design of medical professionals about medical malpractice in health practices, the subject of our postdoctoral research at the Institute of Psychology of the University of São Paulo. The purpose of the internship is to study about the medical malpractice and the disclosure process in American culture since the disclosure serves as an opportunity to rethink and work different variables present in a medical malpractice. The University of Washington has a research center that studies the disclosure in medical malpractice. Thus, the internship abroad is important for allowing the researcher access to specialized literature about this area still unavailable in Brazil. The work plan extends from 12 months. The scheduled activities include participation in classes and courses offered at University, orientation meetings, training in research methods and data analysis. This stage at University of Washington, one of the most prestigious centers worldwide will add power to this theoretical investigation about medical malpractice and disclosure. In addition to conceptual advances, it is expected that this work will develop a joint production for publication at international congress and papers. Besides the conceptual advances, we hope that we can develop new ways of thinking and acting on the Brazilian malpractice and its consequences, and that we can collaborate with the development of this area of research in the country.
