Abstract

It exists in the FCT Presidente Prudente UNESP a research group on mathematical morphology. The mathematical morphology (MM) is a set of concepts used in image processing area being proposed at first by MATHERON (1975) and Serra (1982). The group uses software developed by CARTOMOPH CARDIM (2015) to process the images mainly obtained by satellites. The CARTOMORPH stores and processes images with only 8 bits of precision per color layer and is therefore able to represent 256 colors each. With the expansion of this accuracy to 16 bits per layer will be possible to represent 65,536 colors (CAMBRIDGE IN COLOR) which significantly increases the amount of information stored and manipulated by improving the accuracy of the analysis performed by the software. Thus this project aims to change the CARTOMORPH that work directly with 16-bit images without converting them to 8-bit, as currently occurs. (AU)
