Abstract This Research Internship Abroad intends to deepen the studies comprising the ongoing doctoral research being developed at the State University of Campinas, which is supported by FAPESP/CAPES. This is a practice-led investigation on the witnessing of the aesthetics of shock (FÉRAL, 2012) in contemporary performance, which utilises notions from phenomenology and the lived body (MERLEAU-PONTY) as a means to interact with personal receptive experiences of shock for the elaboration of artistic responses to lived experiences of shock. This internship takes place at the Department of Drama, Theatre and Performance at the University of Roehampton (UK) during the 2016-2017 academic year, with the research concentrating on the further study of the notions of eventhood and process, in the perception of shock, investigating different theoretical and practical perspectives on both concepts, as well as the problematics they bring forth - with related issues being: community, experience, testimony, performative writing and embodiment. The tasks to be developed during this period, under the supervision of Professor Adrian Heathfield, will cover bibliographical research conducted at relevant libraries and study rooms in the UK; field research through the attendance at performances and festivals; as well as the continuous, and ongoing, exploration of creative strategies on different forms of testimony. The theoretical framework includes the works of Josette Féral, Erika Fisher-Lichte, Matteo Bonfitto, Adrian Heathfield, Claire Bishop, Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Victor Turner, amongst others.
