Abstract

Researches performed worldwide show an increase in expression of offending behavior in the female population over the years, as well as women's incarceration. This growing trend reveals that there are some changes under development in social relationships regarding women. Therefore it will be increasingly important to make efforts to better understand female involvement in juvenile delinquency so that it would enable prevention programs and specific following programs suitable to their needs considering that much of the scientific knowledge produced in this field addresses males and most intervention programs are also designed to this section of the population. In this sense, this research aims at defining the characteristics of self-reported deviant and criminal behavior self-reported considering a sample of about 360 female adolescents aged 12-18 (to be completed), enrolled in public and private schools in two medium-sized cities in Brazil, located in the countryside of the state of São Paulo and Minas Gerais. It is also intended to check the existence of subgroups in the sample related to patterns of delinquent and criminal behaviors presented and their association with psychosocial variables assumed as risk factors. The following instruments are being used: Self-Reported Juvenile Delinquency, which is a way of measuring through self-reported method deviant behaviors (drug and alcohol abuse, escape from home) and behaviors directly related to offenses; Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Quese, which allows verifying the frequency and occurrence of abuse and neglect, and the Jesness Personality Inventory-IPJ, which assesses personality traits and indicators of psychopathology, as well as distinguished greater or a lesser degree of engagement infraction. Data collection is being carried out with the assent of school principals, parents/guardians and the students themselves. Data will be described and treated by cluster analysis, principal component analysis, discriminant analysis and correlation analysis between clusters and personality and social variables, with the purpose of characterizing the sample in specific subgroups.
