Abstract

The inflammation is the body's reaction against aggressions caused by physical, biological and chemical agents that triggers coordinated action by the immune system. It is a complex reaction that consists of vascular responses, migration and activation of leukocytes and systemic reactions. Its main feature is the accumulation of fluid and leukocytes in injury sites. There are several mechanisms that explain their actions, involving local regulatory agents, and substances released by the nervous system. So inflammation is adjusted according to the intensity and persistence of the stimulus that triggered it. The effects of inflammation can be blocked with the use of drugs that act by selectively inhibiting these actions. Such anti-inflammatory drugs may act as inhibitors of cyclooxygenase, which is the case of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS), or by changing the transcription of genes related to inflammatory processes, such as steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (SAIDS). Steroidal anti-inflammatory are drugs that mimic the effects of glucocorticoids blocking the synthesis of arachidonic acid derivatives. Glucocorticoids can also block the release of proinflammatory cytokines. In the case of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, their action takes place directly on the cyclooxygenase enzymes, which reduces the synthesis of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins. These are responsible for promoting vasodilation, sensitize nociceptors and stimulate the thermoregulatory center of the hypothalamus. Therefore the effects of NSAIDS have a broad spectrum of activity, such as analgesia, anti-inflammation, antiphrasis and also antithrombotic. There are no reports of the use of anti-inflammatory after surgery performed for cardiorespiratory analysis in fish, and therefore it is unknown whether these drugs will have some influence on the heart and / or respiratory function. Thus was created the aim of this work: to study the action of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory Meloxicam in cardiorespiratory function of fish Colossoma macropomum.
