Abstract

Trans-infection is a process through which uninfected dendritic cells (DCs) carry and transmit the virus HIV-1 to CD4 T cells. Several pieces of evidence point to an important role of the actin network in this process, but the motor proteins involved in trans-infection have not yet been described. This project intends to describe the myosins involved in HIV-1 trans-infection by DCs through RNAi-dependent gene silencing using primary human DCs. In addition, the project will determine the step of trans-infection at which one of these myosins participates, by using viral protein quantification and microscopy techniques. The identification of new host proteins involved in trans-infection may pave the way to the development of new treatments to control HIV-1 dissemination.
