Abstract

The research problem of this project is the employment decision of individuals when they worry not only with their wage offer, but also with other agent's wage. The work schedule is divided in two parts. The first one proposes to develop computational skills in the student using the context of the Economic Theory. For this, it will be implemented economic theory models in the Julia programming language, with the help of tutorials available in the web (e.g. quant-econ.net). In the second phase of the project, it is proposed to adapt the classical model of labour market with frictions in order to include the concept of neighborhood, present in the segregation model of Schelling (1969). The extension will be based in the model of labour market with frictions of Mortensen and Pissarides (1999). As a strategy of scientific formation, the project provides the student (I) a training in important computing techniques; (II) a reinforcement of knowledge of theoretical models learned in classroom; (III) and the challenge of adapting the existing theory to explain a economic phenomenon of his interest.
