Abstract

In recent years, the by-catch of shrimp fishing has been the focus of studies to be one of the major environmental impact factors caused by trawling. In contrast, this by-cath can be an abundant source of antioxidants which could ensure sustainable extraction of these biomolecules. Thus, the aims of this project is the bioprospecting of molecules with antioxidant capacity from the by-cath of shrimp fisheries and their use as nutraceuticals in food species of interest to aquaculture. The collections of by-catch will be in São Paulo coast. The material will be analyzed in Bioprospecting Laboratory of Natural Products, IBCLP-UNESP and the Federal University of Rio Grande - FURG where the preparation of protein hydrolysates for the separation of peptides and in vitro tests. The extracts that present the best results will be tested in vivo as nutraceuticals in the diet of juveniles of Macrobrachium amazonicum and Astyanax altiparanae raised in ponds in shrimp farming in Aquaculture Center of UNESP - CAUNESP in Jaboticabal-SP.Growth, survival, antioxidant capacity and intestinal absorption of nutrients will be analyzed. At the end of the experimental phase, the analysis of the samples and then the data analysis will be performed.
