The Paraná Basin is located in a vast region of sedimentation and is in the central-eastern portion of South America. It occupies an area of approximately 1,100,000 square kilometers of the Brazilian territory, reaching states such as São Paulo, Goiás, Mato Grosso , Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Paraná and part of the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina (only surface). It is a intracratonic sedimentary basin intracratonic that evolved during the Paleozoic and Mesozoic periods, and can be divided into two sub-basins, Apucarana and Alto Garças, the second being the region of interest in this study. Both sub-basins belong to Supersequence of Milani (Milani et al., 2007). This work deals with the disciníds brachiopods searching in the Devonian succession of Paraná State, Brazil. There are currently four species of the record: Orbiculoidea baini, Orbiculoidea bodenbenderi, Orbiculoidea excentrica and Gigadiscina collis. The geographic and stratigraphic distribution varies according to the species and these have occurred since the Neopraguian until at least Eogivetian. The Discinidae taxon is difficult to systematic treatment has only been recently reviewed by (COMNISKEY, 2011). Thus, the interpretation of taxonomic and systematic of these animals will be a pioneer for the group within the Sub-basin Alto Garças. Moreover, the study material will provide sufficient support for future environmental and paleogeographic interpretations of this region.
