Abstract

The American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (ACL) is an infectious parasitic disease transmitted by the phlebotominae mosquitoes that affects the structure of the skin and mucous membranes. This research aims to evaluate the effect of the spatial distribution of forest density in relation to the distance from urban centers, in the incidence of ACL in the Ribeira Valley - SP counties, using cases reported between 2007 and 2014. The methodological procedure is structured in the following steps: a) Geocoding of ACL cases; b) Vegetation Index Mapping, using Landsat OLI images; c) Estimation of forest density by distance from the urban centroid intervals, using the Quantum GIS; d) Statistical analysis of the association between distance from the urban centroid to urban forest areas and incidence of ACL in the population.
