Abstract Multidimensional projection techniques have been widely employed in exploration of datasets, showing the similarity of instances. Usually, graphical representations resulting from a multidimensional projection technique have overlapping of graphical markers, impairing the user exploration. Currently, the literature presents different techniques capable to remove the markers overlapping. However, the display space required to generate the graphical representation without the overlapping increases as the dataset size increases. To minimize this limitation, techniques for representative identification can be used to reduce the display space required. Therefore, this project aims to propose a multilevel exploration approach based on representative selection techniques. Moreover, it is also a goal of this project to identify the best techniques for removing markers overlapping and identification of representative, which will be used in the multilevel approach. These techniques will be assessed by objective measurements and evaluation with users. | |
