Abstract

The main objective of this work is to characterize the vegetation and the environment during the Holocene in the northern coast of the state of Espirito Santo, based on pollen analysis, isotopic analysis, grain size analysis and 14C dating. The testimony of survey that will be used was sampled in a marsh area in the Sooretama Biological Reserve (Rebio Sooretama), in Linhares, northern ES. Some analysis such as chronological, pollen, elemental and isotopic of the collected sediment will allow the characterization of the past vegetation. The interpretation of these data will enable the understanding of the source of organic matter ( C3 or C4 plants and / or algae). In this way it will be possible to infer the type of vegetation present in the area (eg field, forest or mixture), the influence of water on the substrate and the climate dynamics of the study site.
