Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the growth of Nile tilapia strains of Premium, Supreme, Aquamérica e Spring. The experiment will take place at Polo Alta Sorocabana - APTA, in Presidente Prudente - SP, located in 22º11 'south latitude, 51º23' west longitude, and 458.3 meters. Tilapia fingerlings, the male population, of approximately 8 g will be grown in water recirculation systems containing 0.5 m³ tanks, a density of 60 fish/m³, with four replicates (tanks). The fish will be fed three times a day with the same commercial feed for each particular growth phase according to the biomass of each tank. Five fish from each tank will be sampled at the start and 60th, 120th, 180th, and 240th days of cultivation after undergoing a 24-hour fasting period. The sampled fish will be weighed and will be taken the length, width, height, and body perimeter. They will be determined survival, weight gain, feed conversion, and homogeneity of the batch in each period. The exponential growth model is also adjusted for the determination and comparison of growth rates. At 240th days will be obtained weights of the viscera, liver, carcass, skin, and file. A percentage from every part and hepatosomatic and viscerossomatic indices will be calculated. It will be used a completely randomized design, with four treatments and four replicates (tanks). The growth of the study will be conducted by adjusting all data on fish weight for the exponential model given by y = Aekx, and Gompertz model given by y = Aexp (-Be-Kx). In addition, it will be determined the absolute and relative growth rates and weight and age at inflection. The curve parameters for each line will be compared for their confidence intervals at 95% probability.
