Abstract

Climate variability can influence the organization of cities and quality of life of their inhabitants, since the urban climate has potentialized the thermal, rainfall change and air quality. Therefore, the aim of this project is to understand how climate dynamics and types of time are associated with hospital admissions for respiratory diseases in children up to 10 years of age in areas North/Central and South/Southeast of São Paulo in a period of 2003-2013. From the obtaining weather data (air temperature, relative humidity, rainfall, wind speed and solar radiation) through weather stations and health data (records of daily hospitalizations) will be held to choose standard years that will help understanding of climate variability and rhythmic analysis of atmospheric systems. Consequently, this research will have two stages of processing and analysis of the results, the first step is the correlation between climatic attributes, indexes of thermal comfort (Resultant Temperature - TR and the Effective Temperature with wind - VTE) with data from hospital admissions and the second will be the realization of spatial analysis of these variables. The correlation between health data with climate data and thermal comfort will occur by statistical calculations, such as the Pearson correlation coefficients of determination and multiple regression index. The spatial analysis will verifies the distribution of disease burden with the climate attributes, thermal comfort, and socioeconomic and environmental indicators. Therefore, this research seeks to find results between climate relationship and respiratory diseases in children and also aims to contribute to the creation and implementation of public policies that can reduce vulnerability of the population.
