Abstract The purpose of this research is to investigate the awareness in A Paixão Segundo G. H., by Clarice Lispector, and Les Belles Images, by Simone de Beauvoir. The main objective is to compare the two works, demonstrating how happens this process in the protagonist characters of the novels in question, encompassing from its origin (existential hapax), the course of this process, and in what ways these characters change their way of thinking social condition in which they operate and female existential condition. The two writers discuss in these works the meaning of awareness of the women, immersed in contestation process of their destinations before a patriarchal, oppressing and bourgeois society. They will be used as instruments: review and analysis of literary narratives of Lispector and Beauvoir; review of the critical resources of writers; discussion of the elements of existentialism and feminism in the works of the two authors; establishment of comparison between the works. Thus, the corpus of the research is restricted to novels A Paixão Segundo G. H., by Lispector, and Les Belles Images, by Beauvoir. | |
