Abstract The clinical changes, resulting from the chronic inflammatory process in the airways can lead to changes in functional capacity of individuals with asthma. Individuals with chronic lung disease are more susceptible to submit reduced tolerance due to airflow limitation. However, our knowledge, none of the study showed the correlation between pulmonary function and physical activity in daily life and functional capacity. Objectives: to evaluate the relationship between lung function and physical activity in daily, and also the route functional capacity for a clinical test in asthmatic children and adolescents. Method: cross sectional study, it will be recruited patients with clinical diagnosis of asthma. It will be included patients aged 7 to 15 years, diagnosed with asthma who are in medical treatment and with asthma under control (ACT and C-ACT), according to the determinations described in step 3 and 4 GINA.It will be exclude those who fail to carry out the evaluations of the protocol, whose interrupt the medical and/or drug treatment, whose present acute lung infection or other chronic lung disease, or with other comorbidities (Neuropathies, heart disease). It will be evaluated the lung function (forced vital capacity - FVC, forced expiratory volume in one second - FEV1, FEV1/FVC, forced expiratory flow - FEF 25 - 75% of the FVC. The Shuttle Walk Test Incremental (SWTI)will be performed in a 30-meter corridor. The daily physical activity will be monitored by ActiGraph accelerometer (GT3X), over seven consecutive days according to the recommendations. The accelerometer is placed firmly in the hip (pelvic girdle) and should be withdrawn only for sleeping, bathing, swimming or any activity that would undermine the integrity of the appliance. Expected results: we expect to observe the correlation between functional capacity, physical activity in daily life and the severity of asthma. | |
