Abstract

The impetus for this project for a Research Internship Abroad (BEPE) is to complement the Masters' research titled "'In a Way Worthy of Sparta': Honour in the Constitution of the Lacedaemonians" which is being developed under a scholarship granted by FAPESP, at the University of São Paulo. It presents the objectives, the working plan, and the implementation schedule that the proponent intends to develop during a five months internship at the Department of Classics of the University of Nottingham, under the supervision of Professor Stephen Hodkinson. The activities planned for the internship focus on carrying out research at the Hallward Library of the University of Nottingham, on having the research supervised by an expert scholar in the field of Classics, especially on the social and cultural history of the Archaic and Classical Sparta; and on exchanging research experience in an international academic environment by taking part in conferences, seminars, and activities promoted both by the Department and by the Centre for Spartan and Peloponnesian Studies situated there, contributing to a more integrated dialogue with the works being carried out internationally.
