Abstract

The resistance that some microorganisms to current treatments available being an obstacle, especially for the medical field. Moreover, the microorganisms are able to organize a highly complex structure, and even stronger than in planktonic form called biofilm. Photodynamic Inactivation (PDI) has been an alternative method of treatment, which consists of incidence of light on a sample treated with a photosensitizer. Surfactants are compounds capable of increasing permeability through the membrane, thereby increasing the permeability of the cell wall photosensitizer. This project aims to study the effect of different surfactants in photodynamic inactivation of biofilm of Staphylococcus aureus.
